Signs of Spring

We’ve had unseasonably warm weather here in the southern tip of the Willamette Valley for the past five days — warm and mostly sunny. Today in Cottage Grove we reached 70 degrees. Everyone knows this sunshine is fleeting and something to be enjoyed as much as possible. We still have a couple months of rain ahead of us, and if last year is any indication, we might still have some snow.

Our feathered friends and the native plants are enjoying the sunshine as well. A trip around our yard reveals that most of our native shrubs are putting on flowers. In a few weeks the yard should be alive with hummingbirds.
